We've had great sucess with non-booting Nuvi 8xx units and bringing them back to life. In many cases, the reason why a Nuvi 8xx won't boot is because the firmware was corrupted while trying to upgrade a unit's firmware. This can happen if the USB data cable was pulled out before SAFELY REMOVING the Nuvi in Windows. When this happens, the Nuvi will turn on but only display the Garmin logo and then lockup. The only way to correct this problem is to re-flash the entire operating system into the Nuvi using a special communications type software.
