It will be cheaper than buying a new one and less expensive to fix that sending it to the factory. Yes, the power switch does have a mechanical design flaw that could cause it to no longer function. It's up to you if you would for us to perform our preventative maintenance procedure on your switch. We normally charge $25.00 to repair the switch once its broken but we offer this procedure for only $5.00 with any other repair on the same unit. It's very much like an insurance policy for your switch. Garmin tried to help me do a recalibrate and software install, but neither worked.
