I was going to download a Garmin update to my "broken" Garmin 260w. When I plugged in the USB cable to the computer, the Garmin turns on to the "Garmin" page, but my computer does not read that it is connected, therefore, no update is possible to try to get the Garmin to work.

The reason why the computer will not recognize the Nuvi is because the unit is rebooting before it has a chance to get the routine that communicates with the PC.
