My Nuvi 750 switch is physically damaged. Being an electrical engineer with decades of experience and wonderful co workers who know how to use the special equipment to fix such things, I want to stick a new switch in and see if it works again. Since it is broken I don't know what it looks like. None of those switches will work. Those are are pushbutton switches. The switch in the Nuvi 2xx, 2xxW and 7xx is a slide switch with a momentary left position and a locking right position. They are made by a company in Taiwan and there is a 3000 piece minimum buy. They will not sell you just one. The picture that you show, shows the black plastic lever (stub) missing. That's why the switch doesn't work. The slide actuator on top has nothing to grab onto the switch because the stub is missing (broken off). - Jim | ||

So is this a part that Garmin sells, then? If so, what is the part number? Or do I call them? Which is something I need to do as a matter of course, but the thing just broke. Knowing how things get built, unless it is in their spares program, the only extras are either samples for the engineers or laying on the floor at the factory. Both mean they are a good luck item. Any ideas on getting one or some???? 3000 likely don't cost that much, but more than the unit is worth, for sure. Is this a typical failure mode for this part in this application? | ||
