I have a nuvi260, i recently lost the car charger and i used my sons phone usb car charger instead. the gps unit immediately powered off and smelled burnt and was hot to the touch. now it won't power up at all.should i just buy a new one or is it worth fixing. | ||

Due to the surface mount components used inside, the components are very difficult to replace by hand. Using a non-OEM charger can damage a Nuvi as many are not wired the same as the OEM charger. It's very possible, that there is considerable damage to many components on the board and it would cost more to repair the unit than to replace it. |
