Your Nuvi's internal battery is a lithium polymer battery. It's about the size of a cigarette lighter and around 1/8" thick.

Over time, the battery will wear out and no longer be able to hold a charge and deliver the amount of power that it used to deliver.

We recommend always keeping the battery charged. A lithium polymer battery can be damaged if allowed to sit for a long period of time discharged.

In every lithium polymer battery, there is a small printed circuit board that disconnects the battery from the load if the battery voltage drops below a given threshold. This is to protect the battery from being fully discharged.

We have seen older batteries "bloat" (develop gas within them), which can cause your Nuvi's case to split apart.

We recommend having your Nuvi's battery replaced if the battery is (2) years or older.

We offer high-capacity batteries for your Nuvi that will allow your unit to operate for longer periods of time on battery power between charges than the original factory battery.
